Ames Exploration Encounter (AEE)

What is it like to be an astronaut, design an airplane, and walk through a Wind Tunnel?

The Ames Exploration Encounter (AEE) provides the environment for 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students to try out all these experiences and more

The AEE is a unique interactive education experience designed to stir young people's imaginations and fuel their enthusiasm for science, mathematics and technology.

As a Docent you will guide students through 4 hands-on workstations where students:

  • Learn the principles of flight and wind tunnels
  • Use computers to design airplanes
  • Have the opportunity to see themselves in the roles of astronauts and research scientists on a simulated space mission performing a variety of tasks and experiments
  • Work with scientific information gathered from space missions and high altitude flights to better understand our planet
